CMD Training

Employees constantly need to reinvent and acquire new skills to keep pace with changing business needs and market trends. Learning and Development activities empower employees’ growth and assist in developing their knowledge, skills, and capabilities to drive better business performance.

Consequently, the learning and Development Department (LDD) offers a wide range of industry-relevant short and long-term learning and development programmes for personal and professional development, designed to prepare individuals for future opportunities and enhance long-term employability. 

The Centre, through the LDD, currently collaborates with the University of Ibadan to run executive MBA and PGD programmes and runs over sixty scheduled training annually in various aspects of management, including general management, strategic management, human resources management, and leadership development programmes.
The relevant divisions in the departments organize various training each year, which are listed in the annual brochure of the Management Training and Development Programmes. These trainings are in two forms. Scheduled/ Regular Training and Customized and Project-Related Training. 

Scheduled/ Regular Training- This form of training is supply-driven. The training is based on client organizations’ identified needs in our target market. Participants here are drawn from different organizations who enroll in courses that they find beneficial to them and their organizations.

Customized and Project-Related Training- This form of training is demand-driven.  The training is developed and designed with a lot of client input. The clients identify the training needs of their staff (and most of the time with our professional staff’s assistance) and request specific training to meet those needs.    This type of training is very flexible in that it is organized at the client’s convenience – in terms of where, when, and how.

Through this portfolio of management development programmes, CMD has made significant contributions to developing the country’s management capacity and, more significantly, to the current economic recovery programmes.

CONSULTING SERVICES

The Centre’s experience in consulting intervention spans a period of almost five decades. Our consulting intervention practice is richly endowed with this forty-nine years’ experience, directly and indirectly shared and passed on by generation of erudite professional management consultants. Our consultants are from varied disciplinary backgrounds, yet with knowledge of management as a common denominator. A team of consultants for any assignment can easily be constituted from this pool of experienced, talented professionals with strong expertise in different areas of management. The multifaceted nature of organizational problems demands an interdisciplinary approach for effective intervention.
With availability of these consultants, the consulting division is able to harness their skills to provide consultancy services to business organizations all over the country. The Centre therefore, carries out consulting intervention and advisory services in the areas of training needs analysis, business feasibility studies, marketing, strategic management, human resource management and general management.                   
The general aim of our intervention is to achieve operational efficiency of clients of the organization. In this regard, we have also undertaken consultancy assignments in several areas including, organizational restructuring, job evaluation, performance management and corporate reengineering of small, medium and large scale enterprises in public and private sectors of the economy. 
The purpose is to make CMD, being a management resource Centre, the focal point of interaction for management consultants, practitioners and professionals. The interface of management consultants and intended consultants is again enhanced through the design and execution of capacity building programmes. These programmes help upgrade the quality and increase the number of professional and competent consultants in the country.

ACCREDITATION

Through our Accreditation service, we embark on activities that create awareness of the necessity of accreditation. We also ensure that every operator in the industry is accredited and maintains a database of accredited trainers and training institutions. Also, we mobilize  stakeholders to promote and support the standardization in the industry

Our research service thrives on the core mandate of CMD. We  promote and conduct research on modern management of various facets on both private and public sectors of the economy. We also coordinate a couple of workshops on various research work.
Furthermore, Our Research service  also oversees the  publication of  journals, research papers and books on modern management. The journal accepts both private and public well-researched papers and advertisements from organizations. In addition, we also produce call letters and workshop materials and issues training materials
